A DAY IN THE LIFE: Friday 15 October

ExitArt, 475 Tenth Avenue, NYC

Blaise + Co. Contemporary Art is an advisory agency for emerging artists who need help propelling their careers.  As a launching-pad for untapped talent, the agency is also a hub of opportunity for those looking to collaborate with a new artist. We’ve been approached by private collectors, fashion designers, nightlife spaces and luxury members clubs to create innovative exhibitions that will not only present an incredible show to the public, but aid the collaborator’s mission by aligning the individual or brand with a talented new artist. Last Friday’s schedule reflected this dynamic between collaborator, artist and our agency. We spent the day in a variety of projects, each of which is absolutely plugged-in to the Blaise + Co. mission to offer success-hungry artists an alternative to the commercial gallery system. We scouted for the perfect pop-up space for an upcoming show (and no, we won’t tell you where we looked); scheduled meetings and studio visits with two new young artists interested in working with the agency (no, we won’t tell you their names); outlined ideas for a young curators’ council so as to bring our peers and competitors together in a collaborative spirit; started negotiations on a commercial co-branding venture with a new collaborator; submitted a management proposal to one of our favorite artists at her request (no, we can’t share the terms); and attended an ExitArt lecture in which Robert Storr moderated a panel of curators discussing the roots and future of alternative space projects.
