“THE LOVES OF BAJURA” WITH FELIX BONILLA GERENA

WATERMILL, NY — Blaise + Co. Contemporary Art and the Tripoli Gallery of Contemporary Art are pleased to present recent works for sale by Puerto Rico-based painter Felix Bonilla Gerena at the Old Stone Boys Club. Opening with a viewing party on 10 July from 6 to 9 pm, the exhibition will remain open to the public through the first week of August.

As the artist’s exclusive representation to the American market, Tripoli Patterson is pleased to co-curate this exhibition with Blaise Niosi, owner of the new-model curatorial initiative Blaise + Co. Contemporary Art. Presented at the Old Stone Boys Club, a privately-owned alternative space displaying a rotating collection of rare classic automobiles, this installation will mark the first collaboration between Patterson and Niosi. Removed from the typical commercial gallery setting, the iconic female figure in Felix’s paintings casts an unusual yet complimentary backdrop to the curated collection of vintage and sports cars. With vivid colors and thickly impasto brush strokes, which create a levity around otherwise dark imagery, Felix’s work lends a rare atmosphere to iconic examples of Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1968, Felix is recognized in the United States and Latin America for his ability to articulate his rich heritage through highly saturated colors layered onto large-scale canvases. He has shown extensively in Puerto Rico, been included in Philadelphia and Guadalupe group shows, and exhibited such influential cultural institutions as Miami’s Museum of the Americas, the Coconut Grove Convention Center, and museums throughout the Caribbean.

Felix Bonilla Gerena will be present at the opening.
